Serena Williams welcomes her 1st child into the world.

Congratulations are in order for tennis superstar Serena Williams and her fiancé, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian who have welcomed their first child into the world.

Serena gave birth to a baby girl on Friday, September 1 after she was admitted to the St Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Florida on Wednesday.

The 23-time Grand Slam winner said last month she was planning to return to tennis for the Australian Open in January.

While the couple are yet to confirm the news, Twitter is already going crazy with congratulatory messages pouring in from sports stars and other celebs. Also, Serena’s coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, tweeted: “Congratulations @SerenaWilliams for your baby girl. I am so happy for you and I feel your emotion,” Mouratoglou.

He added: “Btw … I wish you a speedy recovery… we have a lot of work ahead of us.”

The news has quickly become the talk of the ongoing US Open tournament, which Williams has won six times.

“A baby girl? Well, I hope she doesn’t play tennis,” world number three Garbine Muguruza said jokingly during a news conference.

Serena, 35 who is also the world’s highest paid female athlete announced her pregnancy earlier this year after she mistakenly posted a selfie of her growing baby bump on snapchat.

She won the Australian Open title earlier in January while newly pregnant, and in a recent article in Vogue,  she said she wanted to defend her title after welcoming her baby. “It’s the most outrageous plan,” she said.

“I just want to put that out there. That’s, like, three months after I give birth,” she said at the time. In June she appeared in a nude cover photo for Vanity Fair’s August issue.

Tennis superstar Serena Williams looks like a pregnant goddess on the cover of the issue as she stripped down to nothing. The picture taken by Annie Leibovitz shows off Serena’s adorable baby bump with no restrictions whatsoever.
