Not so long ago, rising female hip hop star, Gigi Lamayne, spoke out about the struggles of being a dark-skinned girl and the prejudice this comes with! In a series of tweets, Gigi revealed the beauty struggles she’s had to endure in showbiz and the victimisation that has come as a result of her dark tone.
“My fellow black people have taught me to hate myself for being dark skinned because according to society I’m not pretty enough,” says Gigi in one tweet! The heated topic led to a Metro FM interview with the rapper and this set in motion discussions about skin-colour shaming among black people!
