Disturbing vaginal rejuvenation trends put you at risk of STI's and injury

Ladies, no matter how natural the products promise to be, your lady bits only need water

Ladies, ladies, ladies, how many times do we have to tell you to love your vaginas just the way they are? There is no reason for you to be spending money on all these unnecessary products that make false claims about what they can do for your vaginas.

The latest in vaginal tightening trends is a crazy sounding product called “wasp nests.”

According to Huffington Post, wasp nests, also known as oak galls are “created when a female wasp inserts her eggs into part of an oak tree. When the wasp hatches, the legless grubs begin secreting chemicals that reorganise the oak’s normal growth processes – forming an oak gall around it.”

And now, a retailer on Etsy (an American peer-to-peer e-commerce website focused on handmade or vintage items and supplies, as well as unique factory-manufactured items) is selling them for women to use internally to “tighten and rejuvenate” their vaginas.

Since the post gained the attention of international media, the website has removed the product but that does not mean that it will not be made available elsewhere.

Speaking to Huffington Post, gynaecologist and blogger Dr Jen Gunter, warned against these products as they dry the vaginas naturally occurring mucosa therefore increasing the risk of abrasions during sex.

This is because the product (and others like it) destroy the protective mucous layer and good bacteria in the vagina. This could then cause pain during sex and increase the risk of HIV transmission as well as other sexually transmitted diseases and infections.

Other products that do more harm than good are things such as douching products, detox pearls and sticks such as the madura stick.

Effective vaginal rejuvenation methods

The only effective way to “rejuvenate” your vagina would be to consult a doctor and consider surgical interventions such as a vaginoplasty.

If you’re considering it, check out these reviews and please beware, they contain graphic images of the before and after of this and other similar procedures. Always consult a licensed professional and PLEASE, never put foreign products in there.

All it needs is WATER!
