The Queen’s actor Loyiso Macdonald has spent over ten years in the industry , you might have also recognise him from the local drama Isidingo back in 2012. Loyiso being one of the best actors today , he comes a long way. He wasn’t sure which career path to take after he completed his matric.
During an interview on Trending SA, Macdonald revealed that he worked at a call center just after he matriculated because he didn’t want to stay home saying:
“I didn’t know what the hell I was gonna do after high school, so instead of sitting around at home I decided to work, for about two years I worked at a bank, I worked at a call center and I just got sick of it, I looked at the kind of people who I worked with who had been there for a long time and thought, there must be more than this.”
Loyiso then decided to quit his job and he thought of what is it that he would enjoy doing and that’s when he decided to persue his career in acting.
“I quit, I just woke up one morning…and said no, I’m not doing this today…and then had to go through a process of elimination, what do I want to do…what do I enjoy, I had done some acting in school since I was six.”
Even though Loyiso didn’t go to school for acting, he says that growing up in Durban where the film industry is small made it easier for him.
“Once I decided what I wanted to do, I just found ways of getting auditions, eventually I got the right audition for the right role and it just steamrolled from there.”
